Chelsea: £56million for midfielder; shock move for Celtic star; Ivanovic nears exit

Chilean newspaper claim that Arturo Vidal could make his way from Bayern Munich to Chelsea in the coming months as they claim that the Blues are preparing to step things up in their pursuit of the central midfielder. They claim that Antonio Conte has identified him as a top target for the club and bosses have given a move the go ahead.

Bayern are not keen to sell the Chilean and are expected to demand a price of at least £56 million for their key man, who previously played under Antonio Conte at Juventus in Turin, where they won numerous titles together.

report that the club could bring in a new signing this month if they look to replace outgoing goalkeeper Asmir Begovic, and a bid for Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon is believed to be imminent. The 34-year-old’s manager, Brendan Rodgers, has played down speculation but Gordon is believed to be on a three-man shortlist for the Blues.

Having previously played in the Premier League for Sunderland, it is unclear if Gordon will be prepared to leave an SPL title chase for a Premier League one given he would be a clear backup option for Thibaut Courtois, but it seems that the Blues will put his interest in a move to the test.

It may not just be Begovic nearing an exit, though, as the claim that defender Branislav Ivanovic could return home to Russia to complete a move to Zenit St. Petersburg on a free transfer as soon as this weekend.

The experienced right or central defender has now entered the final few months of his contract and the Blues have informed him that he is free to depart, with Ivanovic not suitable for a wing back role and with the likes of John Terry, Kurt Zouma and Nathan Ake already struggling to displace the current first choice back three.
