Charlie Patino thanks one Arsenal player on Instagram after scoring on his debut

Arsenal fans have been waiting for months to see Charlie Patino in the first team and the young midfielder got his chance against Sunderland last night.
The 18-year-old is one of Arsenal’s brightest young talents. Everybody in and around the Emirates believes that the teenager has a big future ahead of him and his 10-minute cameo in the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup last night showed the world why.
Patino came on in the 80th minute and slotted in midfield in front of Mohamed Elneny and Granit Xhaka. He looked tidy with the ball, pressed well when without possession and found himself in decent areas on the pitch. However, his best moment came in stoppage time.
The youngster drove into the box and scored a goal that he won’t forget for the rest of his life.
Charlie Patino thanks Nicolas Pepe on Instagram
Patino’s late run into the box, composure in front of goal and his finish were all outstanding, but Nicolas Pepe deserves a lot of credit for putting it on a plate for the young midfielder.
The Ivorian was fantastic last night, especially in the second half. He gave Sunderland’s left-back all sorts of problems and assisted both Eddie Nketiah and Patino brilliantly from almost an identical position.
Patino, who was delighted with his goal, took to to thank Pepe for his assist. Watch the clip below.
What next for Patino?
Arsenal have a stacked squad in the Premier League and Patino is not going to get an opportunity there. The next round of the Carabao Cup is the semi-finals and the Gunners could draw a side like Liverpool or Chelsea, which would force Arteta to name a strong side.
That eliminates Patino’s chances, but Arsenal fans may get to see him in the FA Cup soon.
The Gunners face Nottingham Forest away from home on January 9. Arteta is expected to rotate his side for the fixture at The City Ground, and if things go Patino’s way, he may get his first-ever senior start in that game.
It will be interesting to see how Arsenal will manage Patino. Chances will be few and far between this season, which may open the door for a loan move in January. However, with Thomas Partey and Elneny both set to head out for the African Cup Of Nations, it won’t be a surprise to see the teenager make the squad a few times next month.
