Charlie Nicholas says Liverpool goalkeeper was a ‘bag of nerves’ against Brighton
pundit Charlie Nicholas says that backup Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian was a ‘bag of nerves’ when he came on in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Brighton.
Alisson was sent off for a mindless handball outside his box which means that Adrian is set to start in tomorrow night’s Merseyside derby.
And Nicholas : “I watched the Liverpool match for Soccer Saturday at the weekend and in the end, they deserved to win. But the three points didn’t come without a struggle. They were hanging on at the end and the defensive frailties were highlighted once more.
“Alisson will miss the derby match and his replacement Adrian was a bag of nerves when he came on. Liverpool do not have the same rhythm of last season but they do know how to get results, and got there in the end on Saturday.”

TBR’s View – Adrian showed earlier this season he’s a reliable backup
Liverpool’s title bid could have hit the buffers before it even started when Alisson went off injured on the opening night of the season.
But Adrian stepped in impressively, adjusting to his new surroundings as well as the pressure of a Premier League title race with relative ease.
Liverpool didn’t drop a single point with him in goal and if he looked nervous at Anfield on Saturday, perhaps it’s to be expected; he picked the ball out of the net with his first touch and the Reds were defending a one-goal lead with ten men.
He has the experience to deal with the Merseyside derby and given the struggles of Roberto, West Ham must wish they still had Adrian to call on this season.
