Charlie Nicholas criticises Southampton duo Che Adams and Angus Gunn

Charlie Nicholas has not been impressed with Southampton so far this season, specifically English duo Che Adams and Angus Gunn.

As per the former Arsenal and Celtic star has called on the Saints to improve dramatically ahead of their game against Leicester tonight.

He : “Saints earned a great point at Wolves but I was not impressed with their attack – they spent money on Che Adams, but he has not settled into it at all. They need to be more dynamic in attack.

“Defensively, they have issues. Maya Yoshida is in and out, while goalkeeper Angus Gunn looks shaky. Leicester, away from home, will not change their pattern. Their quality will end up picking Southampton off with Jamie Vardy able to get in behind the defence.”

TBR’s View – Southampton are struggling to build on Hasenhuttl’s bright start

Many might have expected Southampton to push on and make the most of Ralph Hasenhuttl’s promising start at St Mary’s coming in mid-season.

He looked to have got Southampton back to where they were in the early part of the decade, playing front foot football and buying intelligently.

But the progress has stalled somewhat, with the struggles at both ends of the pitch continuing. A game under the lights on television provides a chance to offer a response, but they need to improve fast.
