Whilst Arsenal’s performances have improved since the appointment of Mikel Arteta, the Gunners are yet to return to winning ways on a regula🎃r basis. This has been largely due to their wastefulness in front of goal. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been less clinical recently than the Emirates Stadium faithful have grown used to. On top of that, Alexandre Lacazette looks utterly bereft of confidence. The Frenchman iꦍs without a Premier League goal in his last eight outings.
18-year-old Gabriel Martinelli has impressed and chipped in. However, Arteta needs the likes of Aubameyang, Lacazette and club-record signing Nicolas Pepe to start taking the pressure off of the young Brazilian. Arteta needs to find a way to get h🎐is forward line firing on all cylinders again, and quickly.
Former Arsenal forward Charlie Nicholas, who represented the club between 1983 and 1988, gave his verdict on Ars♐enal’s striking options in his recent column. The Scot said, “they are becoming a side that is hard ๊to beat but Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang still do not have the balance right in terms of scoring goals. People will question about whether Aubameyang likes playing on left. Lacazette also has no confidence at the moment, but let’s hope it is more positive after the break”.
Nicholas is right to reference the break that Arsenal have recently enjoyed. The squad spent much of that time on a training camp in Dubai. That trip will have given Arteta his first chance to work with his squad without the prꦚessure of an impending match. The Spanish coach will hope that he was able to instil ♏more of his ideas and philosophy in his squad.
If the likes of Aubameyang and Lacazette can get back to their best following this break, then Arsenal stand a great chance of kicking on under Arteta in the remaining months of the campaign.
