Charlie Adam has urged Rangers to complete the free agent signing of English midfielder Jack Wilshere after he was released by West Ham United on deadline day, the Gers are yet to make a move.
Wilshere, 28, saw his West Ham contract cancelled on Monday after a difficult two years at the London Stadium – in which the England ace managed just 19 appearances in all competitions. However, that announcement was followed by a statment.
The ex-Arsenal man stated that he had been fit for the majority of 2020 but was not given a chance to prove that by David Moyes. Instead, the Hammers decided to cancel his £100,000-a-week () contract – which expired next summer.
, ex-Rangers man Adam urged his old club to sign Wilshere this summer – claiming Steven Gerrard has the pulling power to bring a player like Wilshere to Ibrox, suggesting a contract that could run until the end of the season.

“There’s always a possibility Wilshere could come to Rangers,” . “Will it be a pay as you play? Because he will still be getting paid from West Ham, and he might just think I might go up there and play until the end of this season.
“I could see it happening because Steven’s got that presence so it wouldn’t surprise me. When a quality player like Wilshere becomes available you’ve got to grab the bull by the horns and try and get that deal done.”
TBR’s view – Wilshere in, but could his signing spell the end of another?
Scott Arfield, Glen Kamara, Ryan Jack, Joe Aribo, new signing Bongani Zungu, Steven Davis and then potentially adding Wilshere to that list gives Rangers huge talent and depth in midfield. Jamie Barjonas, then, is struggling.
Already with nearly zero chance of breaking into the senior side, Barjonas has a contract at Ibrox until the summer of 2021. If the Gers complete a move for Wilshere, surely Barjonas could have played his last match for the Gers.
