Charlie Adam says Celtic play causing issues behind the scenes

that he is hearing that Celtic midfielder Nir Bitton is causing issues behind the scenes with Neil Lennon’s side, while Kris Ajer wanted to leave the club but did not get his wish.

Bitton, 28, signed a new Celtic contract back in December 2019 that will keep him with the Hoops until the summer of 2023. He had been previously linked with a bargain £1million move to Premier League side Burnley –

He has since been on the fringes of Lennon’s side, this season managing just two Scottish Premiership starts from a possible nine. The 30-time Israel star is behind the likes of Scott Brown, Callum McGregor and Olivier Ntcham in the pecking order.

However, he seemingly remains content – especially after signing a new deal. But ex-Rangers man Adam, on the eve of an Old Firm clash on Saturday, has claimed he has heard that Bitton is causing a stir – and that 22-year-old Ajer wanted to leave.

“I think Rangers will look to target [Greg] Taylor and Ajer. Ajer has been all over the place this season, because he wants out. There’s one or two little grumblings I’m hearing at Celtic,” . “Bitton is causing a little bit of an issue.”

TBR’s view – Do Celtic need Ajer and Bitton?

Cashing in on Ajer would be best for Celtic. The Norway international is a good defender but he is hardly the standard of defender that the figures in the media would suggest. If Celtic get an offer more than £10million, they should cash in.

Meanwhile, Bitton is a good player and offers versatility from the bench. But again, if a decent offer comes in and Bitton wants to go, surely Celtic will not stand in his way – especially given the loyalty he has shown the Hoops.
