Charlie Adam keen on Rangers return but Steven Davis is all the nostalgia they need
Charlie Adam has spoken up his wish for a move to Rangers the Stoke City midfielder has made it clear he would be interested in a return to Ibrox.
Of course, a deal does make sense on many levels. Adam is known to Steven Gerrard, as they played together at Anfield. The 33-year-old spent six years at Ibrox as a youngster, before heading to Blackpool. The set-piece specialist is also not playing at present. Gary Rowett has not been calling upon the veteran, whose last appearance was in October.
“The Rangers thing is something that it would interest me. Absolutely. I have been back more times this season than in the last four or five years. I can see it is going in the right direction.”
However, Rangers are currently on the brink of bringing in another former Ibrox favourite. Steven Gerrard appears to be closing in on the signature of Northern Ireland international Steven Davis from Southampton.
The player wants the move, the clubs are keen and, , the only decision now is whether he arrives permanently or on loan.

If Davis arrives, it is hard to see why Rangers would have any need for Adam in their squad.
His presence would just set others back, like the talented Ross McCrorie. Ryan Jack, who has just started to show what he can do, would also have extra unnecessary competition.
Davis would perfectly replace the departed Ovie Ejaria and Adam would simply be an expensive spare part.
One piece of nostalgia is enough. Rangers should bring in Davis but that’s where it ends.
