Charlie Adam heaps praise on Rangers manager Steven Gerrard

Charlie Adam has waxed lyrical abut the quality of Rangers boss Steven Gerrard, who he’s already described as a top-class manager.

Gerrard is one of several ex-players to dive into management in recent years, with former England teammate Frank Lampard taking charge at Derby County, before joining Chelsea.

Gerrard took the reigns at Scottish giants Rangers back in 2018 and he was tasked with trying to get them back on the same playing field as rivals Celtic.

Despite falling short in title races during his time at the club, it looks like the pieces of the jigsaw are all finally fitting together this season.

The 40-year-old has seen his team in stunning domestic form, as they currently sit top of the league table with 21 wins and two draws from 23 games.

They have a 21-point cushion over second-placed Celtic, albeit the defending champions do have three games in hand to try reduce that deficit and won’t want to give up their league crown easily.

Adam has given huge praise to his former teammate Gerrard for his impact at Ibrox:

“They’ve done brilliant, the standard they’ve set since the managers come in really.”

“He’s a top-class manager, he’s got a presence, he’s got an aura, he’s taken what he was like as a footballer on the pitch, off it.

“I think he’s becoming a top manager. You can see him growing into the job year in year out since he’s been there.

TBR’s View:

Gerrard threw himself right into the spotlight when he decided to take his first job in management at a club the size of Rangers, who at the time were a million miles away from Celtic.

Fortunately, he’s repaid the kind of faith the club showed in him and they are now starting to reap the rewards.

The Liverpool legend has grown into his role as a manager year on year and he’s managed to build a squad with the Gers that are now in a great position to try win the league title, but getting over the line in the next few months is going to be the toughest part.
