Charlie Adam has made it clear he would rejoin Rangers

Charlie Adam told  that he would be open to returning to Rangers this summer with his contract set to expire at English Championship side Reading – 11 years after leaving the Gers to join Blackpool.

Adam, 34, came through the ranks at Rangers after joining the Glasgow club from Dundee in 2003 as a 17-year-old. The left-footed midfielder clocked up 77 appearances in all competitions for Rangers before leaving in 2009.

Since then, the Scotland international has gone on to play for Blackpool, Liverpool and Stoke City in the Premier League. Now, he is out of contract after playing for Championship club Reading 25 times this season.

Asked if he would entertain a move back to Ibrox – more than decade after leaving Rangers to move down south – Adam stated that he would always be open to joining Steven Gerrard’s side, if an offer was on the table.

“Listen,  is a special place. Great club, great support,” Adam told . “If that opportunity ever came around you could never turn it down. Rangers are one of the biggest clubs in Europe.”

TBR’s view – Would Adam be a good addition?

Gerrard has brought back a number of former Rangers players to his side, in the form of Allan McGregor, Steven Davis and Kyle Lafferty – with a mixed bag of results. Lafferty has left after struggling in his second Ibrox spell.

McGregor, though, has been sensational for the Gers and remains the club’s number-one stopper. David has been a good signing, but he is some way behind the player that starred for Rangers and then Southampton.

Adam could be a decent squad player for Rangers on a 12-month deal.
