Champions League winning midfielder says he’s gutted he never signed for Arsenal
Arsenal have missed out on some incredible players over the years.
The Gunners have missed out on top st🌟ar transfer targets such as Luis Suarez and Karim Benzema, while players such as Kylian Mbappe and Cristiano Ronaldo almost joined Arsenal as young players.
Yaya Toure is another player who easily could’ve been an Arsenal player.
Indeed, Toure was on trial at Arsenal back in 2003, but, ultimately, the Gunners didn’t sign the Ivorian,🌞 despite his brother being on the books.
Toure would ultimately beco🌊me one of the world’s ꩵbest midfielders, winning a Champions League at Barcelona and dominating at Manchester City, but, in another world, he could’ve 🐓playedꦕ for Arsenal.
Speaking to Futbin, Toure shared his experience at Arsenal, an🌊d he says he was gutted he never actually signed for the Gunners.

Yaya Toure wanted to join Arsenal
Toure spoke about his trial with Arsenal.
The midfielder says that he spend six m🌳onths with the Gunners, and after his trial was done, he decided he wanted to play in England.
Toure says tha🔴t it’s unfortunate ไhe never got to play for Arsenal, but ultimately, he did end up in the Premier League with Manchester City.
“Just found out you had a trial at Arsenal, what could have been♓?” Toure was asked.
“Yeah I had a trial at Arsenal, six months, six months I think. That trial made me realise I have a chance in the Premier League to be honest. That trial made me realise I can compete at 🥀a high level,” Toure said.
“Waking up every morning and training w💙ith Vieira, Henry, Wiltord, my brother, Sol Campbell, Ray Parlour, all these legends of football, it 𓃲made me feel proud.
“After the trial it didn’t go well, I went back to Belgium, but in the back of my head ൲I thought I needed to go back to England. Unfortunately I didn’t end up back at Arsenal, but in the Premier League I really wanted to taste it.”
Why Arsenal didn’t sign Yaya Toure
Toure suggests that Arsenal rejected him, but that doesn’t appear to hav🉐e been the case.
Indeed, Arsene Wenger has previously admitted that he regrets not signing Toure, but it was𒉰n’t necessarily his fault.
“It would be up at the top [of my list of regrets],” Wenger said. “But let’s not forget that Yaya Toure had an agreement with us – and it’s not because we did not want to sign him꧂ that he went to Ukraine,” Wenger said in a press conference.
“We needed to wait for his passport in Belgium. W✃e have made mistakes but he is not a mistake, it’s just the ܫfact that he preferred to go to Metalurh Donetsk. He could go there without any passport.””
Gael Clichy also tol▨d a similar story about Yaya Toure at Arsenal.
“Yes, the summer I sigꦕned he was with me on trial, but he decided not to come. I don’t think he was fit at the time, he didn’t train that much, we were young, but with Patrick Vieira and Gilberto Silva, maybe he didn’t want to come to sit on the bench, and he wanted gametime. I was lucky to play with him at his peak, what a player, he was one of the best we’ve had,” Clichy said.
Ultimately, it may have been Toure’s decision to not sign for Arsenal, but, in the end, that may 🅷have been the best move for his career as he ultimately went on to become a Cham🥃pions League and Premier League winner with Barcelona and Manchester City respectively.
Toure certainly can’t have many regrets from his inc💛redꦐible career.
