Chamberlain should fear Brandt links following recent position change

Liverpool could make an attempt to sign Bayer Leverkusen’s Julian Brandt this summer after reports in Germany () emerged detailing that player’s release clause is just £21.4 million.

That is an enticingly low figure for a young player who has registered seven goals and assists this season.

Brandt has made 22 Bundesliga appearances and recorded an average match rating of 7.10 .

Liverpool have been linked with the player before of course (, January 2017). The Reds famously decided against signing him and instead signed Mohamed Salah from AS Roma in the summer instead.

But it could be that Jurgen Klopp is ready to reignite his interest in Brandt, and there’s one Liverpool player who wpuld be fearing for his first-team prospects if that’s really the case.

Chamberlain could suffer

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been out injured since last season.

The England international suffered an ACL injury against Roma in the Champions League, causing him to miss out on the final with Real Madrid and the World Cup with England.

Chamberlain is reportedly nearing a return () having gone through a gruelling rehabilitation process, and he may need to hit the ground running quickly.

Chamberlain is now a central midfield player after starting out as a winger, but reported target Brandt has also recently converted to a central role.

The Germany international has spent the majority of the current season playing through the middle, which could make life difficult for Chamberlain if Klopp signs him this summer.

Unless of course, Klopp has plans to deploy him in the wide areas.
