‘Certainly’: Journalist claims Tottenham have their sights set on ‘outstanding’ £18m speedster

Tottenham Hotspur are “certainly” eyeing Filip Kostic this summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Spurs have already got their hands on a left-sided player in Ivan Perisic.

However, there’s certainly scope for Tottenham to bolster that flank further, particularly if Sergio Reguilon leaves.

Perisic arrived on a free transfer, and Kostic may be relatively inexpensive for Spurs.

Sky Sports Germany reporter  has previously claimed Kostic will be allowed to leave Frankfurt for around €15million (£12.8million).

Meanwhile, Bild – via – now claim that the Serbia international has a €20million (£17million) price tag.

Kostic’s contract expires next summer, so if he doesn’t pen fresh terms at Frankfurt, they could well opt to cash in while they still can.

And Jones, writing on , has claimed that the 29-year-old is on Antonio Conte’s radar.

“Kostic is certainly somebody they have checked out as well,” he wrote on Thursday.

“I think it’s going to be a really interesting time for Tottenham to make a mark on this transfer window.”

In May, claimed that Kostic was the first target of Spurs’ potential summer spending spree.

While Perisic and Fraser Forster have already joined Tottenham, they have done so on free transfers.

“The greatest menace”

Kostic enjoyed a fine 2021-22 campaign overall, during the season.

However, it was the Europa League where he stood out and truly put himself in the shop window.

UEFA crowned him the Europa League Player of the Tournament following his heroics in the competition.

Ahead of Frankfurt’s semi-final second leg, the Bundesliga website wrote called “5 reasons Eintracht Frankfurt will beat West Ham in the UEFA Europa League semi-finals”.

Kostic featured at number one, the website deeming him “the greatest menace in this edition of the Europa League”.

Indeed, he went on to help his side beat the Hammers before seeing off Rangers in the final.

Three years ago, the Bundesliga website that Kostic is “an athletic left-footed wide player who can score, create, and mucks in defensively.

“Kostic is unique in his ability to marry attacking and defensive duties without an ounce of protestation.

“Gareth Bale – the left-back-turned-winger of circa 2012-13 – is probably the closest thing to a modern-day comparison.”
