Celtic winger James Forrest can smash his assist record this season

Celtic winger James Forrest has made an impressive start to the season and arguably been the standout player at Parkhead so far.

The 27-year-old signed off before the international break with a remarkable four goals in the demolition of St Johnstone and has been away on duty with Scotland.

His form means that he appears on track to break his own personal record for most assists in a season if he continues in the same vein of form.

The dazzling wide man has already supplied seven assists in his 18 games across all competitions and has looked a serious attacking threat all campaign.

Forrest’s previous best assist tally was 13 back in the 2016/17 season and he is well capable of smashing that record.

But Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers needs to ensure the bar is set high for his attacker this campaign, as he enters the peak years of his career.

The right-winger has been a loyal servant at Parkehad over the years, but now has an opportunity to become a talisman for the side and he’s got a big few weeks ahead of him to try keep up momentum.

Rodgers needs to set him the ultimatum to try become Celtic’s best player and make the most of his quality, which means avoiding dips of inconsistency that have cropped up at times in his career.
