Celtic to miss out to Norwich in chase for reported target Patrick Roberts

Manchester City winger Patrick Roberts is set to join newly-promoted Premier League club Norwich on a season-long loan,

Roberts has struggled to establish himself at the Etihad Stadium and has had loan spells with Celtic and Girona to try and get him gametime.

But the man Sky Sports City signed for £12m back in 2015 is set to get a break in the Premier League finally, by adding his weight to the Canaries’ bid to survive in the top flight.

Earlier this month, the that Celtic were interested in bringing him back to Parkhead but his impending move to East Anglia means that is now off the cards.

Roberts was outstanding during his time at Celtic – perhaps the best spell of his career – and would have been a fantastic addition as the Bhoys look to push on once more.

Rangers are getting stronger and European progression is vital and Roberts is the calibre of player Celtic need to be cracking on.

But when a side that has just come up to the English top flight is more appealing than Celtic, it indicates the challenges the club faces in the transfer market this summer.
