Celtic supporters discuss Che Adams performance for Scotland on Sunday

Southampton striker Che Adams clocked up his first start for Scotland on Sunday afternoon after choosing to play for Steve Clarke’s side as Scotland came from behind to draw with Israel – and Celtic fans have applauded him.

The Leicester-born striker, 24, qualifies to play for Scotland through a grandparent and now the striker has completed a full move to play for Clarke’s side – having played in competitive fixtures for Scotland in the past week.

Last time out, Adams was handed his debut by Clarke as Scotland earned a late point against Austria – drawing 2-2 thanks to John McGinn’s stunning overhead kick late on, after Andy Robertson headed the ball back into the box.

Adams – a £15million () signing for Southampton from Birmingham in 2019 – was handed his first start by Clarke on Sunday. He impressed, laying on the assist for Newcastle’s Ryan Fraser to equalise during the 1-1 draw.

The striker also came close to scoring his first goal for Scotland, cutting inside from the left and having a curling, right-footed effort palmed away by the Israel goalkeeper. He was somewhat starved of chances, but worked hard.

Celtic fans watched on as Adams – who plays alongside Stuart Armstrong and Fraser Forster at Southampton – impressed for Scotland and many applauded his efforts for Clarke’s side. One labelled him a “breath of fresh air”.
