Celtic should use Sunday’s clash with Motherwell as scouting mission to check exciting winger Jake Hastie

Celtic face mid-table Motherwell this Sunday hoping to tighten their grip at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

The Bhoys have stretched their lead to eight points ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures and will be aiming for another win when they face Motherwell.

But this Sunday’s clash could also double up as a scouting mission as Motherwell have a youngster that could interest Brendan Rodgers.

Jake Hastie has been the shining light for Motherwell in the last few weeks, ever since he returned from a loan spell with Alloa Athletic.

The 19-year-old, who operates on the wing, has netted five goals in six matches since returning to Motherwell.

Unsurprisingly, this has alerted a number of clubs down south with Leeds United, Sunderland and West Bromwich Albion among the interested parties, .

But if Hastie impresses Rodgers, then he should be on Celtic’s wish-list.

The young Scotsman has the potential to become a key Celtic first-team player if he can continue his current run of form and reach his potential.

And with his contract at Motherwell expiring, Hastie could be available for a bargain compensation agreement in the summer.

Celtic should keep their tabs on how well Hastie fares against them on Sunday, ahead of a potential summer swoop.
