Celtic appear to have hit a brick wall over their reported interest in Swansea City defender Connor Roberts, as he signed a new contract on Thursday that keeps him at the Liberty Stadium until 2022.
The had previously reported that Celtic were scouting the 23-year-old right-back, but the Wales international has now pledged his future to Swansea.
That leaves Brendan Rodgers’ side with plenty of work to do if they want a new right-back in January to challenge Mikael Lustig for a starting position.
The Bhoys manager should consider turning attention to Premier League side Leicester City, who have already loaned them centre-back Filip Benkovic this season.
Celtic should place Leicester full-back Danny Simpson on their radar, who has been on the fringes at the King Power Stadium this season.

Simpson has made just four senior appearances this campaign for Leicester and has slipped down the pecking order.
But the 31-year-old was an ever-present in the Foxes XI that won the Premier League in the 2015/16 campaign and should still have some years left in the tank.
The English right-back is consistent defensively and could help tighten up the Celtic backline if he became a genuine January target.
Simpson’s current deal with Leicester is due to expire at the end of the season and with his prospects of first-team football slim, the New Year could be the perfect time for the Scottish champions to pounce.
