Recent Celtic form could earn Scott Sinclair one final crack at the Premier League
Celtic forward Scott Sinclair fired a hat-trick during yesterday’s 5-0 win over St Johnstone to take his goal tally for the season to 16.
The 29-year-old is edging back to his best with each passing week.
Yesterday made it 11 goals in as many games and his form has been dramatically rediscovered of late.
During his first season at Celtic Park, Sinclair was sensational.
Brendan Rodgers signed him from Aston Villa, then of the Premier League, and he netted 25 goals on his way to winning the PFA Scotland Player of the Year award for the 2016/17 campaign.
Last season he didn’t scale such heights and his form was sporadic at best.
This past weekend highlighted, however, that a return to his best is firmly on the horizon.
On current form, you wouldn’t completely rule out another crack at the Premier League for Sinclair.
During his career to date, Sinclair hasn’t really found solace during his time with a top-flight club in England.
A season at the Liberty Stadium during Swansea’s maiden Premier League season was as good as it got.
Eight goals in 25 appearances under Rodgers indicated that he had the attributes to be decent at such a level.
Relatively fruitless spells with Manchester City, Wigan Athletic and Aston Villa represent blemishes on his career statistics.
His good form of late is indicative of what a sound player he can be when his mind is focused.
Celtic would likely demand big money for their man of the moment and it remains to be seen whether a suitor will come forward during the summer.
You would certainly think that Sinclair would relish one last crack at the Premier League as he comes towards the twilight of his career.
