Celtic quartet and Erik Sviatchenko react as £4m-rated winger makes move
Patrick Roberts has completed a season-long loan move to newly-promoted Norwich City from Manchester City ahead of the 2019-20 campaign – and four Celtic players have reacted, as has Erik Svitachenko.
The 22-year-old struggled on loan at Spanish side Girona last season, managing less than 600 minutes of La Liga football throughout the campaign. He started just six league games.
Roberts spent two and a half years on loan at Celtic, clocking up 78 league and cup appearances. He scored 18 goals in that time, and is remembered fondly by Hoops fans as he helped clock up three Scottish Premiership wins.
The England youth international posted on Instagram after completing the loan move from Manchester City, and Celtic players Kieran Tierney, Calvin Miller, Nir Bitton and Scott Bain replied, as did Sviatchenko.
TBR’s view
that Celtic were interested in bringing Roberts back to Parkhead, and that he was only available for £4million. It begs the question, why have Celtic not moved to sign Roberts?
The Hoops could do with another winger. The club are set to lose both Oliver Burke and Timothy Weah, who were only on loan from West Bromwich Albion and Paris Saint-Germain.
Roberts knows Celtic well. He helped win three of their eight consecutive Premiership titles and has impressed in Old Firm matches. If he was indeed available for just £4million, Celtic have made a big mistake.
