Celtic must avoid John McGinn situation and complete deal for Motherwell star

Celtic will go in search of their ninth successive title when domestic football resumes. Neil Lennon is now the permanent manager of the Hoops and will hope to continue the club’s dominance.

Fierce Old Firm rivals Rangers did improve on the pitch last season. Under Steven Gerrard’s management, the Gers beat Celtic twice and the next step for them is to wrangle some silverware from the Hoops’ grasp.

Both clubs will undoubtedly enter the transfer market this summer and Celtic need to make sure they are on the ball. The lure of playing for Gerrard helped Rangers attract the likes of Ryan Kent and Jermain Defoe last season.

Lennon will hope to get his business done early and one piece of work that he needs to sort quickly is the signing of Motherwell star David Turnbull.

Celtic as the frontrunners to secure the services of the Scottish Football Writers Young Scottish Player of the Year.

The 19-year-old is a midfield maestro, scoring 16 goals and registering seven assists throughout the 2018/19 campaign. Turnbull can score and create goals, is comfortable in possession, whilst he isn’t afraid to run at the opposition.

Back in August 2018, Celtic missed out on the £2 million signing of John McGinn, with the player leaving Hibs for Aston Villa instead. His stunning form last season helped the Championship outfit to promotion to the Premier League.

Turnbull is a similar sort of player to McGinn and Celtic must ensure they get a different outcome when it comes to pursuing his signature.
