Celtic midfielder Olivier Ntcham makes big claim about Benfica star Adel Taarabt

Celtic midfielder Olivier Ntcham has picked Benfica midfielder Adel Taarabt as the most-talented player he has ever played alongside during a Q&A session on Instagram, after the duo combined at Serie A side Genoa.

Taarabt, 30, has endured a difficult career that many have described as showing enormous signs of promise – but the Moroccan’s attitude has let the player down. Though his talent was incredible, it is believed his commitment let him down.

The former Tottenham Hotspur star enjoyed excellent spells with the likes of Queens Park Rangers and AC Milan, but the midfielder has seemingly never managed to find a home. Joining QPR in 2010, he lasted five years and played 164 times.

But he was loaned out to both Fulham and Milan during that time, and eventually made a permanent move to Benfica in 2015 where he has only made an impact this season – playing 33 of his 40 all-time Benfica outings during 2019-20.

Indeed, Taarabt was rotting in the Benfica reserves and joined Genoa in 2017-18, where he played alongside Ntcham. Now, Taarabt is operating as a holding midfielder and it appears that the midfielder has got his career back on track.

Asked who was the most-talented player he had played alongside, Ntcham told Celtic’s official Instagram page that the 17-time international was technically “outstanding” – overlooking Celtic teammates such as Odsonne Edouard or James Forrest.
