Could lack of options at right-back see Celtic sign Jeremy Toljan?

Celtic will aim to complete their triple treble mission this weekend when they face Hearts in the Scottish Cup final at Hampden Park.

The Hoops have already secured the League Cup and the Premiership title and will aim to finish the job in what could be Neil Lennon’s final game as manager.

Next season looks being the big test for Celtic. Steven Gerrard now has his feet firmly under the table at Rangers and he will look to end the Hoops’ dominance.

The challenge for Celtic is to continue keeping the Gers at arm’s length and ensure they maintain their stranglehold on Scottish football.

One man who has featured quite a lot since Lennon arrived at the club is Jeremy Toljan. The defender has made eight appearances under the legendary manager, although he has sat out the last two games.

the Dortmund man has no future at the club. Lucien Favre is not considering him as part of his squad for next season and he can leave the German outfit.

Competition

Toljan probably hasn’t done enough to earn a permanent deal at Celtic Park, although the fact he isn’t wanted at Dortmund might knock down his price somewhat.

At 24-years-old there is still scope for him to improve and he could be a decent squad player for the Hoops to consider. Joining a club in January is never easy and with a full pre-season under his belt, he might prove a better player then he has shown so far.

Celtic aren’t blessed with lots of options at right-back and that is also worth thinking about for the club. Mikael Lustig looks likely to depart this summer, leaving the club short of option on the right-hand side.

Toljan hasn’t been a complete flop and he might just prove a useful addition for the Hoops next season.
