Celtic have no excuses to miss ‘Tierney type’ player as PL side reportedly close in on signing – TBR View
Celtic have struggled to fill the void left by Kieran Tierney when the defender left for Arsenal in 2019.
The Scotland international was a key man for the Hoops during his time with the SPL giants. And in the two years since his move south of the border, Celtic have found it difficult to find the right player to fill in for Tierney.

However, the Glasgow side could be in luck this summer following recent updates regarding Arsenal. As , the Gunners are close to signing Benfica left-back Nuno Tavares, a player who will serve as backup for Tierney.
‘A real Tierney type’
Indeed, this news might not seem too important for Celtic supporters.
But Arsenal signing a left-back means that there is now one less club interested in Hibernian defender Josh Doig. And the Hoops have to take advantage of this opportunity.

Former Celtic star Charlie Nicholas has echoed a similar statement recently .
The pundit labelled the 18-year-old defender as ‘a real Tierney type’ of player. And Nicholas encouraged his former club to sign the Hibs starlet.
Celtic must sign Doig before another club does
With that Doig is available this summer for £5m, the teenager will hardly be a signing that will break the bank for Celtic.

What is more, is that the teenager has the experience in the SPL to come into the Hoops squad and immediately compete for a first-team spot.
With Watford also reportedly interested in Doig, Celtic wait around for another club to snap up the teenager defender. Indeed, the youngster would be an astute signing for the Glasgow side and one that could pay off in the future should the teenager continue to develop.

With Celtic entering a new era under Ange Postecoglou, the Glasgow side can kick off a new generation of the club with a signing that could aid the side back to the top of Scottish football and beyond.
