Celtic fans would be delighted if club land 2018-19 Premier League captain
Celtic are reportedly locked in talks to sign Huddersfield Town captain Tommy Smith this summer but the two parties’ valuation of the right-back is currently differing – and Celtic fans hope there can be a compromise.
Celtic are keen to sign 27-year-old Smith, who only managed 16 appearances for the Terriers last season despite being the club captain. Huddersfield value Smith at £4million.
However, it is believed that Celtic are only willing to as high as £3million. It is believe the two clubs are in talks in order to find an agreement, with Huddersfield likely to want to cash in as Smith has entered the last year of his deal.

Celtic are still in the market for a right-sided defender, after Mikael Lustig left the club on a free transfer to join Belgian side Gent. Jeremy Toljan returned to parent club Borussia Dortmund at the end of his loan.
It leaves Celtic with just Anthony Ralston at right-back, while Nir Bitton and James Forrest have played on the right side of the defence in the past. They begin their Champions League qualifying campaign on Tuesday night.
Celtic fans have reacted to the news that their club are in talks to sign Smith, and fans are keen to see a deal completed for the ex-Manchester City man this summer and finally end their right-back woes.
I'm happy with our recruitment so far. Tommy Smith would bring experience and leadership into the group and a decent player. HH

Tommy Smith would be an excellent signing for us. People saying 'oh he only played 16 times for a poor Huddersfield side last season' etc etc are misinformed. Celtic dominate up here, he'd flourish in our side. He's a leader too, coming in to the peak of his life as a footballer.

Seeing complaints from Celtic fans that we can do better than Tommy Smith at RB, the guy has been at Huddersfield his whole career & at 27 is club captain yet we're buzzing signing a belgian left back that nobody as seen play! I'd take Smith in a heartbeat!
