A number of Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to react to the disappointing news from Neil Lennon concerning James Forrest’s fitness.
Forrest has not featured for the Hoops since September. He had scored two goals in seven appearances in the Scottish Premiership this term.

Unfortunately, it appears that it will be some time before Forrest is back for the Bhoys. Ahead of Celtic’s Europa League tie with Sparta Prague on Thursday, Lennon has seemingly suggested that it is highly unlikely that the winger will feature again this year after undergoing surgery.
“His foot was in a pot, a boot, for the last couple of weeks but when it came out of the boot there was no significant improvement, in fact it was getting worse,” he said, .

“So he went to see a specialist and he recommended the surgery being done, and it was done yesterday.
“We think it has been a success but we are looking at quite a considerable time out still.
“Best-case scenario is probably six to eight weeks – but it may be longer than that. We will see how he settles after the surgery.”
It is a blow for Celtic to lose the 29-year-old for such a long period. Of course, the Hoops have had to deal with not having Forrest available for some time already. But it is still a setback.
Celtic are currently set to face 11 games before the turn of the year. So he would have certainly had a role to play in the coming weeks.
And the news has left plenty of Hoops fans on social media feeling extremely disappointed. Forrest is a player who has come in for criticism at times throughout his Parkhead spell.
But there is no question that when he is at his best, he is a devastating option to have available. So some clearly wish that it had not come to this.
Here is how some of the Celtic fans reacted to Lennon’s comments…

Hope all get well and back in contention soon. Particularly missing James as he’s been a constant over the past 9 winning seasons and I hope he’s back to help us secure the 10.

Wits the script with Forrest only getting surgery now? Surely that should’ve been done and dusted a week after the injury happened
