Celtic fans react to James Forrest performance against Motherwell

Celtic maintained their seven-point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership with a 4-0 win over Motherwell at Fir Park – but Hoops fans were hardly impressed with James Forrest’s display on the right flank.

A stunning second-half performance saw Celtic score three of their four goals, after Odsonne Edouard had put Celtic ahead in the ninth minute. A quick counter saw Edouard tuck home a loose ball from eight yards out.

At the half-time break, the scoreline read 1-0. But Neil Lennon’s side came out roaring in the second 45. Callum McGregor’s stunning solo run saw him reach the byline and cut back for the in-form Leigh Griffiths – who tucked home calmly.

Forrest got himself an assist for the third as he played a neat pass into the excellent McGregor, who made up for a poor first touch by lashing the looping ball into the back of the net from 20 yards.

Edouard took his stunning tally to 25 this season to finish a comfortable win away from home, curling a free kick into the top corner from 20 yards. But Forrest was a shadow of his best on the right flank, in what was his 387th outing.

Celtic fans reacted to Forrest’s display. Although he took his tally to 19 assists for the season – he also has 16 goals – many were left unimpressed by the Celtic academy product and made their feelings known on Twitter.
