Celtic fans have taken to social media to praise David Turnbull following his nomination for the Young Player of the Year award from the Scottish Football Writers Association.
The SFWA the four nominees for this year’s award, with Turnbull facing competition from breakout Hibernian defender Josh Doig, Aberdeen star Lewis Ferguson, and Rangers teenager Nathan Patterson. The Celtic midfielder has already won the award in his career, with the 21-year-old claiming the prestigious accolade in 2019 during his years at Motherwell.

It has been a season to forget for Celtic, but for Turnbull, it has been one to remember as the Scottish youth international hit the ground running following his transfer to the Scottish giants this summer, with the midfielder bagging nine goals and seven assists in all competitions for the Hoops, and supporters on social media were pleased to see him be nominated for an end-of-season award.
Here’s what some Celtic fans had to say about Turnbull’s nomination on Twitter…
Turnbull without doubt. He’s been one of the few stand outs in a poor season for Celtic.

Turnbull for me, hes been a singular shining light in a pathetic Celtic squad this season, Doig has also been pretty good to

Josh Doig has been absolutely superb. Turnbull has probably been Celtic's best player, the same going for Ferguson and Aberdeen.
Patterson shouldn't be near that list. Yes, he's a great talent with a bright future but he's played 7 games!
Ali McCann is so much more deserving— Conal Tracey (@ConalGTracey)
Turnbull has been a standout at times in a terrible Celtic team & Doig has been a consistent performer for Hibs says game 1. Ferguson and his Aberdeen side have been rotten to bang average aw season.

It's a flip of coin between Turnball/Doig..

Turnbull has played very well for the poorest Celtic team since the early 90's. Defo a contender. Paterson has played approx 7 games. Football writers award. Says it all. Not a contender. Doig for me.

Turnbull will be hoping his form this season lands him a place in the Scotland squad for this summer’s EUROs.
