Celtic fans react as Premier League winger comments on failed Parkhead move
Aston Villa midfielder Trezeguet has told that he could have joined Celtic in the summer of 2016. The Egyptian winger moved from his home country to Anderlecht, but Trezeguet says Celtic wanted him too. Celtic fans have reacted to the comments from Trezeguet, in frustrated mood.
Trezeguet, 26, is an important part of Aston Villa’s side at the moment, clocking up 63 appearances in two seasons. It would have been more, had he not suffered a knee injury that has required surgery. In that time, he has had a hand in 14 goals for Villa – following his £8.75million () move.
Villa have just completed the signing of Emi Buendia from Norwich and if Jack Grealish remains, Trezeguet could find he has fallen down the pecking order. Asked about a move to Celtic in 2016, Trezeguet stated that the Hoops failed to pay the required fee needed to take him Al Ahly.
“When I decided I was going to go to Europe, there were a lot of clubs interested.” . “One was Celtic. I was going to sign for them, but the deal was never completed because of the poor financial compensation Celtic offered Al Ahly. I signed Anderlecht instead.”

What are Celtic fans saying about Trezeguet’s comments?
Right now, Celtic could really do with a player like Trezeguet. The Hoops lack in options out wide. Diego Laxalt and Mo Elyounoussi have seen their loans end and leave Parkhead, while James Forrest has only just returned from injury. Mikey Johnston is an option, but is probably best in the 10.
They need wingers and a player that has done a decent job in the Premier League would surely shine in Scottish football. Celtic fans have reacted on Twitter to reports that Trezeguet has commented on a move, and many think he would have been a good signing for the Hoops.
