Celtic fans react as Leigh Griffiths scores twice for reserves

A number of Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to laud Leigh Griffiths after the striker scored twice for the reserves as they beat Stenhousemuir 6-0 on Tuesday.

Griffiths has endured an incredibly difficult time. He has been out since August due to a thigh injury, . The 29-year-old had been working his way back from a number of months out of the game due to mental health issues.

But the forward has taken little time to remind Celtic fans of how devastating he can be. He opened the scoring for the reserves inside 11 minutes. And it was Griffiths who doubled the lead just three minutes later.

The Scotland international will certainly have to share some of the headlines with Liam Burt. The youngster bagged a hat-trick in the emphatic win. But there is no question that the supporters were delighted to see Griffiths on the scoresheet.

Neil Lennon could certainly do with a greater number of options up front. Celtic have 11 games to contest before the winter break. So the Hoops boss will be pleased that he may soon be able to take some of the pressure off Odsonne Edouard.

And plenty of Celtic supporters have insisted that they would love to see Griffiths involved in the matchday squad as soon as this weekend. The Bhoys face Livingston at Parkhead on Saturday, and some are hoping that he will be ready for that.
