Celtic fans let Sinclair off the hook as penalty miss doesn’t cost club Betfred Cup win
Celtic clinched their seventh consecutive domestic trophy by seeing off Aberdeen 1-0 at Hampden Park in the final of the Betfred Cup yesterday afternoon.
Ryan Christie continued his remarkable comeback from squad player to key man by netting the winning goal for Brendan Rodgers’ side, who clinched the first available trophy of the season.
It could have been a more comfortable afternoon for the Bhoys but Scott Sinclair saw his penalty saved by Joe Lewis after 52 minutes but it didn’t stop his side retaining their Betfred Cup crown.
Celtic underwent a tricky start to the season but have returned to their old form of late and this latest taste of silverware should convince Rodgers to remain at Parkhead, even as the Sack Race in the Premier League gets underway.

If Sinclair’s penalty had cost Celtic, then perhaps the supporters would not have been so charitable, but as it was, the former Swansea winger was included in the party spirit their supporters showed on Twitter.
The Englishman received the praise and congratulations online and we’ve taken a closer look at some of the best of the reaction…
