Celtic produced a spectacular finish to a poor Europa League campaign with a 3-2 win over Real Betis at Parkhead on Thursday night – but fans have criticised Ange Postecoglou, for using Kyogo Furuhashi.
Goals from Stephen Welsh, Ewan Henderson and David Turnbull did the job for Celtic in what was a topsy-turvy clash. Betis came from behind to equalise at 1-1, and then 2-1 moments after Henderson’s goal.
The match was a dead rubber, though. Celtic had already qualified for the Europa Conference League knockout rounds after Christmas, prompting Ange Postecoglou to bring a handful of fringe players into his side.
They included the likes of Scott Bain, Liam Shaw, Albian Ajeti and James McCarthy. A brilliant win and proof that Celtic can hack it at that level. Postecoglou brought Japan star Kyogo on 28 minutes.
Switzerland international Ajeti was forced off with an injury and Postecoglou chose to risk arguably his best player in Kyogo, for just over an hour against Betis. It backfired, with Kyogo coming off after 71 minutes.

What are Celtic fans saying about Postecoglou’s bringing on Kyogo?
With Ajeti suffering a hamstring problem and Kyogo seemingly distressed with a leg injury, Postecoglou is running out of options up top. Giorgos Giakoumakis is expected to be back at the end of the month.
So, it was a risk bringing on Kyogo and many have criticised for Postecoglou for risking his summer signing in a match that has little meaning. One fan labelled it a “huge mistake”.
