Celtic suffered a crushing defeat to Valencia on Thursday night in the Europa League – and many of the club’s supporters on Twitter raged at defender Emilio Izaguirre.
The Bhoys were beaten at home 2-0 by the Spanish club in the first leg of a Europa League round of 32 tie.
Brendan Rodgers’ team once again suffered more agony on the European stage, as goals from Denis Cheryshev and Ruben Sobrino put the visitors in complete control ahead of the second leg.
The Scottish giants were unable to make the difference at Parkhead and were outclassed by the La Liga club.
A selection of Celtic fans on social media decided to single out defender Izaguirre for his performance and believe that he was major link.
The 32-year-old left-back endured a torrid night against streetwise Valencia and was caught out of position on a number of occasions, while he offered very little support going forward into attack.
He is an experienced defender with 100 international caps for Honduras, but looked out of his depth on Thursday and was unable to fill in well enough for usual first-choice left-back Kieran Tierney due to his injury absence.
