Celtic fans discuss Leigh Griffiths future, after just five 2019-20 starts

Leigh Griffiths has struggled to re-emerge into the Celtic fold under Neil Lennon this season, managing just five starts throughout the entire 2019-20 campaign – and Celtic fans have discussed his future on Twitter.

Griffiths, 29, missed the second half of last season due to mental health problems. This season, a hamstring injury has prevented the former Hibernian star from getting more game time – and indeed more goals.

The former Wolves striker has managed 18 appearances for Celtic this season, but only five of those has come from the bench. He missed a healthy chunk of the season between August and November due to the hamstring issue.

Indeed, Griffiths last started a league game for Celtic back in August with Odsonne Edouard being preferred up front. Celtic have now completed the £3.4million signing of Polish striker Patryk Klimala from Jagielliona.

Since joining Celtic for £1million () in 2014, Griffiths has clocked up 227 appearances for the Scottish champions and scored a whopping 107 goals – including his stunning 2015-16 haul which saw Griffiths net a whopping 40 goals in 51 league and cup outings.

But Celtic fans are beginning to grow tired of waiting to see Griffiths return to his best and with Edouard, Klimala abnd Vakoun Issouf Bayo as options – many think Griffiths should leave the club on loan, or even sold this month.
