Released by Everton, Phil Jagielka would be perfect partner for Kristoffer Ajer at Celtic
Celtic boss Neil Lennon will go in search of several new additions now he has been confirmed as the club’s new permanent manager.
The Northern Irishman took the position on a temporary basis in February after Brendan Rodgers opted to leave for Leicester City.
An illustrious Triple Treble was claimed in 2018/19 and the challenge for Lennon next season is to maintain the club’s monopoly on Scottish football.
One man who is interesting the Celtic boss is central defender Phil Jagielka,
The 36-year-old was released from Everton this week and doesn’t have a desire to hang his boots up just yet.

Jagielka only played seven games for the Toffees last season, struggling for games under Marco Silva. He could relish the chance to head north of the border, to finish his career possibly playing Champions League football.
In 12 years on Merseyside, the ex-Sheffield United defender played 385 games for the Toffees.
Some supporters saw his departure as a surprise, but Everton’s loss could well be Celtic’s gain.
Norwegian centre-back Kristoffer Ajer may well benefit from Jagielka’s presence next season.

Filip Benkovic will return to Leicester and Dedryck Boyata will leave the club. As a result, that will leave Ajer as the club’s only natural central defender and reinforcements will be necessary.
The 21-year-old has the potential to go on and play in one of Europe’s top leagues. For now, he needs some guidance. By placing Jagielka alongside him next season could prove a masterstroke by Neil Lennon.
