Engels would arrive in Glasgow still only 20 but having already played nearly 100 games at senior level.
Engels played more than 30 times last season for Augsburg and is very much someone who can fill in a number of positions if needed.
For Celtic and Brendan Rodgers, having that sort of versatility to work with is hugely beneficial, and like O’Riley, they will feel they can develop Engels and improve him further.
