Celta Vigo relegation could damage Southampton’s hopes of permanent Wesley Hoedt sale
Back in the January transfer window, new Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl let a few of his fringe players leave.
Among them was Wesley Hoedt, who joined La Liga side Celta Vigo on loan until the end of the season.
And despite only being on loan, Hoedt has already dropped a hint about where he sees his future.
, Hoedt admitted that he would like to stay at Celta Vigo beyond the season.
: “I like being here, but I still have a contract with Southampton. I’m currently playing for Celta and I will give my all to play my best football.
“Like I said, we’ll see what happens in the summer, but, of course, I would like to continue in this great club./p>

But Celta Vigo are currently in a relegation battle and if they drop to the second tier, that could affect their chances of completing a permanent deal.
With 12 games left to play, Celta Vigo are 17th one place and two points outside the relegation zone.
With three losses and a draw in their last four matches, their form is ominous going into the run-in.
Southampton will be hoping to flog the misfiring 24-year-old permanently in the summer. But the deal might hinge on Celta Vigo’s survival.
