From Lee Erwin to Marcus Antonsson: Are these the five worst Leeds United signings since 2014?

Leeds United are looking to finally bounce back into the Premier League this season, currently sitting third in the Championship.

Boss Marcelo Bielsa has assembled a quality group of players and the squad boasts some real quality.

It hasn’t always been that way, however, and over the years Elland Road has been graced by some truly shocking footballers.

Here at TBR Football, we looked at five players who could be considered the worst Leeds signings since 2014.

The Paraguayan striker came with a glowing reputation having been signed by chairman at the time Massimo Cellino.

He featured in just five Championship fixtures for the White, accumulating a grand total of 21 minutes in English football.

It’s fair to say that he didn’t exactly shine in a Leeds shirt.

Dave Hockaday signed the lower league stalwart and somehow presumed Ajose would be well-equipped to play in the Championship.

The forward played four games for the Whites before going on loan to Crewe Alexandra.

Was sold to Swindon Town just one year after signing terms at Elland Road and now plays for Mansfield Town.

The target man was seen as a big signing for the future when he signed for the Whites in 2015.

Uwe Rosler was the man responsible for signing the Motherwell starlet, but it was clear from the off he wasn’t up to Championship football.

Erwin began this season at Kilmarnock but now operates in Iran playing for Tractor Sazi where he has netted four goals in six games.

Marcus Antonsson

The Swedish striker was Garry Monk’s first signing after taking over from Steve Evans as manager.

Antonsson cost Leeds an undisclosed fee thought to be in excess of £1 million.

The man signed from Kalmar managed just a single goal in 16 appearances for Leeds, against Sheffield Wednesday.

He was loaned out to Blackburn where he struggled again and now turns out for Malmo.

Another of Massimo Cellino’s infamous foreign imports, although luckily for Leeds this one was only on loan.

The Albanian striker was nowhere near the required quality to become a threat in the Championship.

He played just 49 minutes of football during the 2014/15 campaign and is currently turning out for a team in the third tier of Italian football.
