Carlton Cole wants to see West Ham Felipe Anderson do more

Carlton Cole believes that West Ham need to see more from their attacker Felipe Anderson.

The Hammers signed the Brazilian for £36million () from Lazio back in the 2018 summer transfer window and he enjoyed a decent debut season at the London Stadium.

He finished the last campaign with 10 goals and five assists in 40 games across all competition, as he caught the eye on the flank.

But the left-winger has been nowhere near as effective this season, with just one goal and five assists in 22 games across all competitions.

The 26-year-old returned from injury on Monday night to play in the 3-2 Premier League defeat to Liverpool and former West Ham striker Cole was critical of his contribution.

Anderson has proven in his career he’s a brilliant talent that can torment defences with his pace and directness, but he needs to start showing that for David Moyes’ side quickly.

“Felipe Anderson is a great player, but he’s not pulling his weight about at the moment. He should be doing a lot more because he’s got so much talent, but he didn’t really look bothered yesterday [against Liverpool],”

TBR’s View:

West Ham fans have certainly not seen the best version of Anderson this season and he’s lost his attacking spark in front of goal.

With the Hammers currently sat 18th in the table occupying a relegation spot, they desperately need their top stars to come to the party for the remainder of the season to keep them in the top-flight.

Anderson has the ability to find a purple patch of form in the coming weeks and that in itself should go a long way to securing Premier League safety.

But there is competition from the likes of Robert Snodgrass, Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen for a starting position.
