Carlo Ancelotti to decide Ellis Simms’ future this summer as Championship clubs plot transfer of Everton striker

According to , Carlo Ancelotti is to decide on Ellis Simms’ immediate future at Everton after pre-season amid interest from Championship clubs in a possible loan transfer.

The Toffees have been pleased with Simms’ development since leaving Merseyside in the January transfer window to join Blackpool for the remainder of the 2020/21 season.

Simms scored eight goals and offered two assists in to help the Seasiders secure their , having lost just three of the games in which the 20-year-old featured.

Everton are yet to make a decision on Simms’ future at Goodison Park, with the striker soon set to enter the final year of his current contract and is said to be in the dark over the club’s plans for his career.

It is expected that he will return to Finch Farm following the conclusion of Blackpool’s play-off campaign, and spend the summer working with Everton during their pre-season plans before any discussions are held.

Simms’ form at Bloomfield Road has sparked interest from Championship sides in taking the forward on loan next term, while one of the other three clubs set to compete in the League One play-offs were also among a host of keen League One teams in January.

With Simms set to enter the final year of his contract this summer, the striker is entering a crucial period of his career as he must either continue to show Everton that he has the potential to cut it at Goodison Park or impress suitors to earn a deal elsewhere.

His efforts in League One have given Simms a solid platform to now build on after being a prolific goalscorer in youth football, netting U18 games and with the U23s, while regularly receiving praise from Blackpool boss Neil Critchley.

The Seasiders coach that Simms is a ‘real handful’ to , while previously the powerful runner for showing ‘real signs of progression’ which has clearly left an impression on Everton and will go a long way toward him securing a new deal.
