Carlo Ancelotti praises Fabian Delph after EFL Cup outing vs Fleetwood
Carlo Ancelotti’s has praised midfielder Fabian Delph for his contributions against Fleetwood Town in the 5-2 EFL Cup win, describing him as ‘a really important player’ for the Toffees.
The Englishman was making his first appearance since 23 February having been recovering from injury, and lasted around an hour before making way for Tom Davies.

It’s been all change since the 30-year-old last donned the colours of Everton, with the club’s first-choice midfield now possessing Allan, Abdoulaye Doucoure and James Rodriguez.
This was an opportunity for Delph to show his manager that he still has quality to bring to the table, and he did indeed make a good impression against the League One side.
Ancelotti said of the former Manchester City man (): “Fabian adds experience and knowledge.
“He is a really important player, with experience of playing at the top level.
“It was a comfortable performance for him and he did well.

“He was comfortable on the pitch and helped his teammates.”
TBR’s view – Competition may see Delph raise game
Arguably £80,000-a-week star Delph () has not pulled up trees since coming to the club last season.
But hopefully for Everton the new signings will have a positive effect on the player.
The most important thing of course though for Delph is to stay injury-free, as it’s going to be a long season and he’ll be needed a to provide cover for the likes of Andre Gomes, Allan and Doucoure.
