Carlo Ancelotti has unfinished business with reported Everton target Adrien Rabiot

Everton are reportedly keen on a move for Adrien Rabiot, It is reported that the Frenchman is ready to leave Juventus this summer, as he is not happy in Turin.

The report claims that he, along with Gonzalo Higuain, was one of two players not to return to training with Juventus this week. The Argentine striker is caring for his sick mother but Rabiot is simply staying away.

It is then suggested that Rabiot has his eyes on an exit and Everton are front and centre to secure the £120,000-a-week talent. In fact, tentative attempts were reportedly made to sign the player on loan in January, according to the report.

Of course, Everton have a trump card in their pursuit of the midfield maestro. Carlo Ancelotti knows Rabiot well having worked with him at Paris Saint-Germain. In fact, it was the Italian who handed Rabiot his debut for the French club, featuring in a pre-season match with Barcelona in 2012.

Ancelotti, confirmed that Rabiot was set to play a part in the PSG first-team that season, despite the big investment going on at the Parc des Princes. It seemed the teenager had won over the PSG boss.

“He deserves to play. He’s a young player. He is very skillful and has a personality. He too was able to show his qualities. (He is) important for the future.”

That January, Ancelotti loaned Rabiot out to Toulouse where he thrived and admitted to the press at the end of the 2012-13 season, , that he would be looking to use Rabiot more the next season.

“I talked about it with his coach (at Toulouse) Alain Casanova. It was a very good experience for him. He is likely to come back and to be important to this team. Next year I hope he will be here.”

Unfortunately, that did not happen. Ancelotti left PSG for the Real Madrid job that summer and Rabiot carved his own path in the French capital.

Now, seven years later, it appears that Ancelotti might have another chance to work with the talented midfielder. Everton fans will hope he does not miss that opportunity.
