Carlo Ancelotti hails Everton star that did ‘really well’ in Arsenal victory

Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti has given big praise to Jordan Pickford after his performance on Friday night at the Emirates Stadium.

The Toffees picked up three points on the road yesterday against Arsenal in the Premier League, as they kept themselves firmly in the race for the European positions.

Bernd Leno’s own goal was the difference between the teams after a howler from the Arsenal goalkeeper. However, his counterpart in-between the Everton sticks fared much better.

Pickford, 27, helped preserve a clean sheet for the Merseyside giants with a strong individual display.

The England shot-stopper kept his concentration to make two excellent saves in the second half. The first was a low save to deny Dani Ceballos, before another in injury time from Gabriel Martinelli.

After his league performance, Ancelotti was highly complimentary of the composed goalkeeper.

“Jordan Pickford did really well, with a good save at the end, he was comfortable, good with the ball. His performance was really good,” .

If you look at Pickford’s strengths, his composure and quality on the ball stands out.

Unfortunately, neutrals often trow the criticism at him that he’s got poor reflexes and lets in goals far too easily.

There are times he can be a little inconsistent, but overall it’s been a positive campaign from the goalkeeper during Everton’s bid to get themselves European football for next year.
