Carlo Ancelotti claims he has faith in Everton defender Jonjoe Kenny
Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti has claimed that he’s got confidence in academy graduate Jonjoe Kenny going into the new season.
The 23-year-old defender spent the whole of last season out on loan at German Bundesliga club FC Schalke, where he became a regular in their starting line up and caught the eye.
He is an attack-minded right-back that managed two goals and three assists in 34 games across all competitions for them.
Kenny is a former England Under-21 international that represented his country at various youth levels and is someone that has matured massively in the last year, which is why it will be interesting to see if he can force his way into the Everton XI.
He’s previously played 40 senior games for the Toffees, but he’s got senior right-back Seamus Coleman to try compete with if he wants to nail down a starting position at Goodison Park.
“Jonjoe is different, he knows the club, he’s a player I have a lot of confidence in,” Ancelotti said in his pre-match press conference, as quoted by the

TBR’s View:
Everton captain Coleman, 31, won’t be looking to give up his starting berth anytime soon and he’s one of the most senior figures in the squad that helps set the example to others.
But Kenny certainly looks like he’s now ready to really push him going into the new Premier League campaign and he’s impressed during the pre-season games this summer.
He would perhaps add a greater attacking threat from full-back with his pace and energy, but Ancelotti will have to weigh that up with his defensive qualities.
