Cardiff target Maja should look at ex-Sunderland team-mate Asoro’s Swansea struggles

Amid uncertainty surrounding his future, Josh Maja was an unused substitute for Sunderland last weekend.

Maja is out of contract at the end of this season and Sunderland may be forced into selling him this January to avoid the risk of losing him on the cheap.

The 19-year-old is Sunderland’s leading scorer with 13 goals in 25 games this season.

But his form has not gone unnoticed with Cardiff City the latest club to enter the race for Maja, .

The teenager might have a difficult choice to make in the January window.

Should he stay at Sunderland or should he make a big move to the Premier League?

But one example might tempt him into remaining at The Stadium of Light.

His former team-mate Joel Asoro was in a similar position to Maja, but decided to leave Sunderland in the summer.

The Sweden youth international moved to Swansea City in the Championship but he has struggled since his switch.

In nine first-team games, the 19-year-old striker has failed to find the net and has registered just one assist.

When Maja is making this important career decision, he needs to consider Asoro’s struggles.

With his former colleague struggling at one Welsh club, should Maja really push through a move to the other?
