Cardiff City boss blown away by Liverpool loan star Harry Wilson

Cardiff City manager Neil Harris has showered Liverpool loan star Harry Wilson with praise after his home debut in the 1-1 draw against Bournemouth .

The 23-year-old is on loan until the end of the season at the Cardiff City Stadium and capped his first home appearance with the equalising goal.

Wilson was on loan at Bournemouth last season and returned to haunt his former loan club.

It was perhaps surprising that a Premier League club didn’t take a chance on the forward but their loss is Cardiff’s gain.

His first-team prospects at Anfield look to have evaporated and now he must shine for Cardiff and earn himself a permanent move somewhere.

Cardiff would surely relish the chance to sign him permanently, especially if he can score enough goals to fire the Welsh outfit to promotion.

Harris was desperately impressed with his new signing following last night’s draw.

“He’s disappointed he hasn’t got the match ball.

“He showed his class and quality again. You can talk about Harry Wilson’s quality, his class, his shots, his link-up play, his free-kicks, but it’s what he does without the ball as well, the distance he covers.

“I thought he was excellent.”

Wilson played for Liverpool this season in the Carabao Cup, missing a crucial penalty in a Carabao Cup clash with Arsenal.

Fresh start

Having come through the youth ranks at Anfield he managed just two appearances for the first-team.

The majority of his football has been played out on loan with Crewe, Hull and Derby County taking the youngster on a temporary basis.

He was particularly impressive at Pride Park where he scored 15 goals and registered nine assists as the Rams reached the Play-Off Final.

Harris will hope he can replicate such form during 2020/21.
