‘Can’t do it by himself’: Some Rangers fans credit one player despite Malmo loss
Rangers suffered a crushing defeat against Malmo on Tuesday night to drop out of the Champions League – but some of the club’s fans on Twitter did at least find a positive from the display of their star Alfredo Morelos.
The Gers were beaten at Ibrox tonight, which meant they ended up on the wrong end of a 4-2 aggregate scoreline over the two legs against Malmo.
Steven Gerrard’s side have bowed out of the Champions League in the third round qualifying, so will be gutted to miss out on Europe’s top club competition.
Morelos, who was making just his second appearance of the season, put Rangers ahead on the night to the delight of an Ibrox crowd.
The 25-year-old striker scored at the back post to put the Scottish giants 1-0 up and level the tie on aggregate.
However, visitors Malmo scored two unanswered goals in the second period to secure victory. It’s even more frustrating that Malmo had to play half the game with a man less after a red card.

Rangers fans worry about Alfredo Morelos future
A selection Rangers supporters on social media say Morelos was the individual that did himself proud against Malmo.
The Colombian centre-forward was his usual self when it came to energy and aggression. He may not have grabbed a second goal in the second-half, but overall it was a decent display from him.
It’s a huge blow that Ibrox won’t get to host the Champions League group stages because it would have been a great reward to play some of Europe’s elite. However, they’ve got one Europa League qualifying tie now to focus on.
Some Rangers fans are now worrying about keeping their star players during the remainder of the window, especially Morelos.
