Can these three signings push Huddersfield Town into the top half?

Ben Marshall – Blackburn Rovers

With Blackburn yet to offer Ben Marshall a new contract, the experienced 25-year-old looks set to leave Ewood Park this summer. . If Huddersfield were to match that bid, they would smash their current transfer record. But records are there to be broken, so capturing Marshall’s signature would be a real statement of intent.

Where would he play for the Terriers?

Although a right-sided midfielder by trade, Paul Lambert has deployed Marshall as a right-back to great effect at various points during the season. That’s where Wagner could play him; the attacking width in Town’s orthodox 4-2-3-1 system comes from the full-backs, and Tommy Smith has never been particularly effective at overlapping the inside-forward or attacking opposition defences. Marshall’s pace and offensive-mindedness, combined with his ability to read the game, would add a much needed cutting edge to Town’s counter-attacks and transitional play, especially with Chris Löwe at left-back.
