‘Can only give him credit’… Charlie Mulgrew suggests 26-year-old Celtic player is so brave

There are many players at Celtic struggling for form right now and there are also players who deserve criticism for the way they are playing.

Brendan Rodgers has been very vocal in the media in displaying his displeasure at the lack of quality in the team and I don’t think that is helping the confidence of his players.

But there is one player that Charlie Mulgrew believes deserves praise even though he has been playing poorly.

The former Celtic defender was speaking about the under-fire Greg Taylor when he admitted that he deserves credit for showing courage at Celtic,

Mulgrew said [], “He’s just going through a bad spell. I mean it’s hard for me to sit here and criticise because I’ve been there.

“I’ve been in that myself and you don’t see a way out. Your confidence is low and you need to step out there every time.

“So I can only give credit to him for showing courage that he’s stepping out in front of the fans every week and he’s putting himself out there.

“And hopefully it turns for him because he is going through a bad spell.”

Taylor was an absolute rock under Ange Postecoglou during the Australian’s two years at the club. The Scotland defender was a mainstay as Celtic swept up five trophies out of six, including the record-breaking eighth domestic treble.

Right now, under Rodgers, Taylor is struggling to find his form and that has led the Celtic manager to look to reinforce that area of the team.

Hopefully the 26-year-old will start to rediscover the form that made him a favourite of Ange’s because with the run of games coming up, Celtic needs him to be at his very best to ensure no further ground is lost in the title race.
