Can Leander Dendoncker turn things around at Wolves?
Wolverhampton Wanderers signed highly-rated Leander Dendoncker on an initial loan this summer ahead of a permanent switch next year, but he’s had a fairly muted start to life at the Molineux Stadium.
The 23-year-old completed a move to English football from Belgian giants Anderlecht and is a versatile ace that can play in midfield or defence.
He’s looked fairly solid in two Carabao Cup appearances so far this campaign, but is still waiting to make his Premier League debut.
Dendoncker has not even been named in a match day squad yet for a league encounter and he’s got his work cut out changing the mind of manager Nuno Espirito Santo.
The Belgian appeared twice as a centre-back for Wolves in the cup, as he’s extremely confident in possession and fits the criteria to be a centre-back under Nuno.
But unfortunately for him the Wolves back three looks extremely settled as it stands and have made a seamless transition to the top flight from the Championship.
He needs to initially try break into the 18-man Premier League squad, which means dislodging either Kortney Hause or Romain Saiss.
Dendoncker’s limited opportunities may have surprised many people considering his calibre before a move to Wolves, but it looks like he is going to have to be patient for a little while longer still.
